Bible Verse
Read John 11:1-45
I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will have life even if they die. And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. (John 11:25-26)
Reflection
Have you ever felt sad?
Mary and Martha were very sad because their brother Lazarus had died.
What did Jesus say to comfort them?
“I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will have life even if they die. And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”
How do Jesus’ words make you feel? Why?
We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. And we thank him for the promise of life forever with him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we pray for the people in our congregation and families who are feeling sad today because someone they love has died. We ask you to comfort them and remind them of your eternal promise. Amen.
Activity
Sometimes when people are feeling sad we give them flowers to try and cheer them up. Try making your own flowers at home out of paper that you can put up around your house to remind you of Jesus’ gift of eternal life.
Step 1: Cut out a circle of paper
Step 2: cut small 1cm long lines around the edge of the circle to make petals
Step 3: Cut out a smaller circle of paper and a thin, rectangular stem
Step 4: Glue the stem to the centre of the flower then glue the smaller circle over the stem
