As you know, due to the Coronavirus Covid-19 it is currently advised that public worship is limited to small numbers. You are now able to book into short Holy Communion services through the website (limit of 20 people per service).

However, we also encourage you to continue to gather together in your homes as a family for worship time – either on Sundays or at any other time during the week. Please feel free to use these resources  to guide your Worship @ Home.

Growing in faith; reaching out in love

Sunday 28th June

Jesus says: ‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’

(Matt 11:28,29)

In the name of the Father and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit.

Bible Readings

Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

Jesus reveals the Father, and the weary find rest in him

“To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:     “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance;  we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’     For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Lord Jesus, thank you for revealing the Father.  Help us to take your yoke  and find rest in you.

Confession of Faith

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

Pastor’s Message

Give the Lord Jesus your burdens. Name them to him. Sit silently for a moment and listen…

God has given us his Spirit, and by the Spirit we pray to him as our Father. So let us bring our requests to God.

Heavenly Father, you are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. We thank you for your daily forgiveness of our sins, and your guidance and love in every struggle we face. Open our eyes and ears to your presence in our daily lives; and open the eyes of our hearts to your Son through your word.

Lord in your mercy:            hear our prayer

We thank you for your church, the body of your Son – in whom we receive grace and mercy. Bless and protect your church throughout the world so that all people may hear the gospel and be saved. Equip the leaders of our church. We commend to you our Bishop John Henderson, and our District Bishop Lester Priebbenow.   By your Holy Spirit enable them to carry out their callings with joy, strength and wisdom.

We thank you for ordering our country and society by means of our government and elected leaders. Bless those in positions of responsibility that they may willingly strive for truth and justice, and so be your instruments of care and protection.
